Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her help and dedication to increasing South African Social Security Company (SASSA) services for the duration of an engagement with the agency's senior managers in a strategic setting up session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the numerous social grant beneficiaries, who excelled within the 2024 matric final exams.
With the 724 156 full-time learners who registered to the National Senior Certificate (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, symbolizing 81% of the registered pupils from the schooling sector.
These learners achieved a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means that the investment national government is creating during the lives of weak and susceptible youngsters is yielding a constructive effect in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe explained.
